contoversies

Cricket is yet filled with another controversy-the Nel controversy with the South African team and our Indian cricket team is also not left far behind too as the former cricketers & the management had informed MS Dhoni to express his opinions carefully? Was it right for MS Dhoni to declare that Sachin Tendulkar wanted the seniors out of the team? Would these too affect the performance of the Indian team as a whole? This is the best time for South Africa to kick off the Nel controversy and for the team to win in India as the house is not in order as for the Indian cricket team.

mascot

Who would be Lucky Mascot for Bipasha Basu the film actress- Cristiano Ronaldo or MS Dhoni ?

for emergency purposes

Accidents can take place anywhere at anytime. It would be better if some buses are dedicated to carry first aid specially at the time of emergencies.

greater demand

There is a need for more Volvo buses for the citizens to commute from one place to the other in the city. Due to the pleasant weather in Bangalore, people coming from far away places are bound to settle in Bangalore due to this. Moreover the frequency of the Volvo buses (the timings) must be increased before it is too late

double decker

Double Decker buses were a rare sight in the city of Bangalore as most people used to go to the top of the bus for a better view of the city. But these Deckers seem to have vanished in thin air from the streets of Bangalore. Yes, as a person remarked jokingly:-‘There is no driver on the top of the bus!’

providing

It is often seen that rash driving has been prevalent in Bangalore but 'once in a bluemoon' you do find people obeying traffic rules as strictly as possible. Should not the traffic depatment offer some incentives for these people ?

poets

Which Indian Poet do you consider as the best - is it Rabindranath Tagore's?Any other Indian Poet?

metro not soon enough

In how many years would it take for the Metro rail to come up, 5 years (never) the work is progressing too slow, 10,15years at the most 20 years-hope so!5 years is too less a time for the metro rail to be completed in Bangalore. What's your opinion about Metro Rail and how long would it take to be completed? Guess! We need power (electricity) too. Bangalore has witnessed a lot of power shedding in almost all the parts of the city.Is the government going to borrow power, we are already in debt! By the way be ready to witness more traffic jams, an hour long traffic jam and one-way streets in the coming years.Get up early and complete your work in the office if you want to return home early. Quite true 'the early bird catches the worm.'

fanfare

Do you agree Marriage is an institution ? If so, should we have to celebrate it with much fanfare, pomp and show?

Children need attention

Rainy or sunny, a few minutes past eight, an autorickshaw draws up in front of Preeti's house. Her mother comes out and hands over a school bag and water bottle to the driver and bids goodbye to her daughter off to the school in chaste well-ironed uniform. Preeti is seven years and reads in Class Two in a fashionable school nearby, hardly twenty minutes away, so long, as two such others join her on the way to the same school. Raju is younger, five years old, lives on the other side of the street and is enrolled in an expensive international school, a good fifteen km away. He is picked up and dropped back home everyday by a sleek yellow bus which zooms through the morning traffic as if it were on an urgent mission to the rocket launching pad. Yes, the auto and the bus are on their way to launch children of some affluent parents into the future. Preeti's father is a software engineer and is rather content with his wife fully engaged in their home and looking after their only child. Raju's parents, both work twelve-hour days with multi- national companies while their aged parents take care of the young ones. Both Raju's and Preeti's families almost dote on the children and they are taken proper care of. Preeti and Raju had no material needs unfulfilled promptly. Preeti's father is too busy to have spent some time together with her and her mother, some occasions to play with, talk freely laugh loud and play those childish pranks are rare. Preeti's relation with her father is more factual than bound by emotion. Raju's world may be of a generation or two behind. Preeti and Raju may mature into able and well-groomed professionals one day, but, they will miss the finer bond of family relationships, cultural identity and emotional understanding of one another. Doubtful, if these children will make good social beings as they grow up.It is not enough for the parents to pay attention to the material needs alone of their children, but also need to take care of their emotional needs of caring and sharing of the joys and sorrows of the family life. Worst crimes and evils are committed by men and women with no emotional maturity and fellow feeling. Think of the less fortunate children whose parents are have-nots. Both parents are daily wage workers. No work, no pay. The parents have no material means to meet the basic needs of food, clothing and shelter for their children. Faced with lack of opportunities in life and frustration overtaking, those children can be drawn into social and class based tensions. They stare at those fortunate children in exquisite uniforms rushing to schools and back home and at other times playing games in the open. They also wonder at those parents driving past in gleaming automobiles. The poor children have to be in the footsteps of their parents, at most of their tender age, labouring hard in the rain and sun in the farms or in unhealthy factories to eke out a living. A school and the niceties of childhood life are beyond their reach. Yet, their parents do take care of them however half-fed they be as every parent dreams of a better living future for his or her child. Born into poverty and inferior social conditions these children easily fall victims of social evils like child abuse and other criminal activities. Parental directions are lost on them. Theirs is a struggle for existence by fair or unfair means. They have no hope for the future. The society punishes those children for every little aberration they make knowingly or unknowingly which drives them further into wrong doings. Despite adequate attention provided by the upper crest of the society to their children, a good many of them go astray and mature into the worst

possible enemies of the society. This is largely owing to the excessive greed and utter selfishness of the social circles to which their parents themselves belong. Some parents put undue pressure on their school going children to achieve higher ranks in the examinations. So much so, it becomes an obsession with the children and their parents. The Kerala Government has taken note of the unusual increase in the number of suicides amongst children soon after the announcement of public examination results, either for failure or for poor ranks in the examinations. The Government is thinking of replacing the marks card with a grading system, A, B, C, etc.The parents should refrain from exhibiting high expectations on their wards. Proper parental attention to child development is what makes the child grow into an able, self-esteemed, loving and caring adult, conscientious of his or her role in society. If we measure the parents' involvement with their children by the quality of the Indian youth, there remains much to be desired. Had the parents paid ample attention effectively to inculcate in their children good human qualities like love, affection, compassion, fellow feeling, caring for others and helping the needy, India would have had less poverty, deprivation and wants amongst its millions of citizens today.” All for my child, and, none for thine" is the motto gaining ground. Forget not, "Child is the father of man".
Are children getting proper attention from parents in the world of today? We can see this on a day to day basis on how children run across the road while crossing it, most of them stand on the footboards of the buses unaware of the dangers, drive their vehicles at top speed without wearing helmets especially in the case of two-wheeler riders. Some of them do exceed smoking and drinking limits too as the parents of these children maybe working full day or socializing with others mostly during the weekends like kitty parties, parties, etc. which tends to the children becoming neglected.

Live life the true way

We do need money for our living. But is money the only thing in our life ? In the process of acquiring more & more money we tend to forget about the beautiful world in which we live in, the gifts of nature, the nature itself, the wildlife, the babies, the kids and do we ever think of the unfortunate children-the disabled? Out of these which do you consider as the most important money, love, friendship, relationship or service to mankind by helping the poor, the needy, the elderly, the old, the sick and the unfortunate children?

High security number plates

Is the media fighting for justice for protecting the citizens of the country? If so why is Pratibha’s murder case taking such a long time? Rather than going after the Under-19 Cricketers and the Indian Cricket Team, is it not the duty of the media to seek justice first in the Pratibha’s murder case and punish the culprits? Is the media sheltering the rich and the wealthy people? They indeed need to learn a lesson from the media of the West that they did not even spare President Bill Clinton in the Monica-Lewinsky case! Few years back there was a major headline of high security number plates for all vehicles in Bangalore, a major headline in all the leading newspapers. But now this is not even heard of. Strolling down the roads of Bangalore, most vehicles have broken number plates or are in various shapes & sizes or are muddy too! There are also a number of vehicles with very dark tinted glass windows both in the front as well at the back which do not allow even the sun rays to pass through and it is difficult to identify the driver & the occupants inside. The high security number plate will definitely identify such vehicles which will surely help the traffic personnels.

solution

Have we yet found a solution for the street hawkers in Bangalore whom we are still depended upon for the fruits & vegetables they supply? How many vehicles more does the traffic department expect to ply on the roads of Bangalore? Most of the traffic signals in Bangalore are not synchronized properly too! Instead of dividers barricades are put up which makes it easy for all the vehicle drivers to cut from one side of the road to the other in quick time. Any answers for these unanswered problems of the city?

parties

Can any political party attain single majority? Or is it going to be a Coalition government again? Which do you favour Coalition government or Presidential rule?

people

In life somehow or the other we do meet people by chance it maybe during our stay in a particular place or during school & college days or at any other places. People such as Mr. Rajaram a Journalist, Mr. A.S. Rawat, Journalist again and Mr.Clifford Martis as a Journalist & Writer for Woman’s Era are the people that I had come across. They had played a very important role in my life which did change my life. All thanks to them.

lassi

When I was a child about 10 years old, I had visited Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh & Kulu Manali by road and it was a nice trip to these places. The people were hospitable and nice towards us. They took great care of us. Just as we reached Chandigarh we were offered 'lassi' by the women living there dressed in their traditional attire.
I really miss these places and the lassi too. If I get a chance I would love to visit these places once again.

hill station

Few years back we had to attend a marriage function at Kootar a hill station in Kerala. It was really fun as we travelled by a mini bus from Malam and were on our way to Kootar. My cousin sisters (sisters here) & cousin brothers sang Malayalam & Hindi songs too along the way. On reaching Kootar we were witness to the lovely Tea Gardens there and people working in these Tea Gardens including the women. On this day itself there was a call for a Kerala Bundh and the roads were closed with pillars, trees & logs of wood. Some of our relatives got down and removed them from the road and after our vehicle had passed they replaced the pillars, trees & logs of wood back to their original place. We had lot of fun .I was asked to watch one of my cousin sister as she was a baby by her mother. She was scared and ran down the slope and I had to follow her everywhere down the slopes, up the slopes and behind the trees. At this time the photographers were present too for the marriage function and caught me on camera and recorded all this. They made a CD out of this with the marriage function and we did have a very funny time.

Poor reading habits

Are we right in criticising children for their poor reading habits? Have not the books including educational books become costlier now?

Permanent Seat

Should the government go ahead with the nuclear deal or wait until India gets a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council? The government of India should make it clear that India won’t sign the Nuclear Deal until the US offers a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council! This agreement should be in written form by the US.
